An interview with Usha Rani from New Indian Public School, Bangalore

I started the school leader role without any prior experience of running a school. My school is a family enterprise and I had taken the responsibility from a relative. However, I found myself being overwhelmed and lost as I had no mentor to guide me. With zero exposure and only a little connection with other school leaders, I struggled at my role. I used to heavily rely on trial and error method to implement anything in school.

To say that ISLI TRANSFORMED ME ENTIRELY will be an understatement. Right from understanding what a leader is, and how one can be a leader, I now understand the importance of my role in the school. I have learnt observation skills and now train my teachers in lesson planning as well as other techniques discussed in workshops. I follow each and every workshop session meticulously and that has given me tremendous confidence in dealing with my teachers. My teachers too, are now more confident in their classrooms as they plan their lessons well.
